City of Jackson celebrates final Black History Month program for February
JACKSON, Tenn.– As we near the end of February, Jackson City Hall hosts the last Black History Month celebration.
Every Friday, residents have been filling City Hall to take part in the commemoration of culture and history.
The City of Jackson has been showcasing visual and performing arts from members of the city’s African American community and Friday evening was no different.
“It was an honor to be able to do my poetry and music down at City Hall. I mean it’s a place for the people and so I think it’s a wonderful event that happened and I was honored to be apart of it,” said Ontoni Reedy, a teacher and performer.
“It’s not just the history. We’re celebrating the past, the present and the future of the culture here in Jackson, Tennessee,” said Christiana Gallagher, Community Engagement Director, Jackson.
City Hall will continue to bright with red, yellow, and green lights for the remainder of the month.
