Locals drawn together for downtown block party
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson residents had a chance to enjoy their downtown tonight while networking at the Liberty Street Block Party.
The event was sponsored by many organizations throughout the city in an attempt to draw people together for a fun fall evening.
The party was purposefully planned for later in the day so those getting off work downtown could join in on the food and live music.
“It gives people a chance to enjoy their downtown,” said Matt Altobell, executive director of the Jackson Downtown Development Corporation.
“There are a lot of outdated perceptions about downtown and when people come down here and experience it for themselves I think they have their minds changed about what their downtown is like,” said Altobell.
Organizers said they were pleased with the turn out and hope to plan more events like the block party in the future.
