Local high school theatre department to present “The Lightning Thief”

MILAN, Tenn.–A local school’s theatre department is putting the finishing touches on an upcoming on stage performance.

A rehearsal was held Monday evening for Milan High School’s production of “The Lightning Thief.”

The play is a musical version of the highly popular Rick Riordan novel, “The Lightning Thief”.
The story follows Percy, Annabeth, and Grover as they seek to redeem their legacy and uncover the mystery of who stole Zeus’s lightning bolt.

Organizers say the performers and production staff have been working for weeks in anticipation for the curtain to finally go up on opening night.

“It’s been so much fun, because you really get to be creative with the show, because there’s not really a template for it. Like last year, we did “Beauty and the Beast” and it was beautiful, but there’s a certain expectation of what Belle has to look like, what the beast has to look like… With this, we kind of get to push the boundaries of what costumes look like and what we want to have,” said Marsha Lantz, director of “The Lightning Thief”.
