Milan’s Jewels and Gems Studio offers creative opportunities for the community

MILAN, Tenn. — Two women expand their business in Milan to offer more to clients and potential customers.

Donneka Johnson and Sharonda Freeman are owners and operators of Jewels and Gems Studio.

They offer a full cosmetology school to their students, art studio to guests, and a hair salon to potential students.

Currently they partner with Humboldt High School to educate selected juniors and senior students to receive their cosmetology license.

Their building was formerly a sandwich shop, and from there, they have offered many creative opportunities for the community.

“B-E-Y-O-U-N-I-V-E-R-S-I-T-Y, be you forever!” Johnson said. “We want to make sure that when they come here, we want them to succeed in this industry. We want them to make sure they are first and foremost committed to being themselves.”

Jewels and Gems Studio offers open mic nights, paint parties, and they currently have open enrollment for prospective students.
