Former West Tenn. businessman jailed on 2 counts of theft over $250K
McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Barry Bynum, 58, of Pinson is behind bars following an indictment by a grand jury earlier this week.
He was booked into the McNairy County Jail Thursday morning on two counts of theft over $250,000 and two counts of identity theft.
Bynum was taken into custody by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Criminal Investigation Division.
Bynum’s bond has not been set. THP has not released what items valued at half a million dollars Bynum is accused of stealing or the victims of identity theft.
Bynum once worked as an insurance agent, but in September his license was suspended by the state after he admitted to to selling unlicensed investment securities valued at $100,000.
Bynum’s bail is expected to be set Friday. He will be formally charged Monday morning in McNairy County.
