Night two of Miss Teen Volunteer America pageant
JACKSON, Tenn.— It’s night two of the preliminary rounds of the Miss Teen Volunteer America pageant right here in the Hub City with all the glitz and glam.
Night two of preliminary rounds had half of the contestants competing in either evening gown, talent and fitness or wellness.
Last year’s winner Ayzijanna Wood reminisces of her year after winning the title.
“To get back into the swing of it tonight, it feels more exciting because we kind of got the flow and how everything’s going to go. And just by talking to the girls I know they’re feeling a lot more relax today,” said Wood, current Miss Teen Volunteer America.
She also shared that she was able to talk to these young girls and encourage them.
(Thursday) night the girls had a pajama party that left her feeling inspired by how great this group of young women are.
“51 shades of intelligent smart and beautiful talented women. Being surrounded by these incredible women is inspiring and I feel like that’s what pageantry does it brings out women,” Wood says.
With Friday being International Women’s Day, Wood shared who her favorite woman is.
“My mom built her brand up from the ground and now we’re able to be blessed with traveling experiencing other people and giving other women the opportunity to now model with her fashion brand,” Wood added.
Wood also shares that being a woman can look different to some but inspiring overall.
“From bakers, to women in stem, to fashion majors, and women who do nursing that diverse selection of women is what makes women so inspiring that they can do anything,” Wood said.
She has this advice to all young girls.
“The motto that I live by is just living as your true authentic self I feel like that’s something that no one can take away from you. If you are authentic in your heart then anything that’s meant for you will come for you,” Wood said.
Congratulations to Friday’s preliminary winners. Miss Alabama, Ava Walters, winner of Fitness and Wellness and Miss Maryland, Anna Grace Loudenbeck, winner of Talent.
The new Miss Teen Volunteer America will be crowned Saturday night at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
