New chief appointed at Springville Community (Volunteer) Fire Dept.

HENRY CO., Tenn.— A county fire department makes local history.

On Saturday, March 09, 2024 Henry County made local history when a new chief was announced.

The Springville Community (Volunteer) Fire Department hosted it’s annual meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday at New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris, TN.

Fire Chief Bob McDowell retired after serving on the department since 2002. Chief McDowell passed his torch to incoming Fire Chief, Holly Charland, stepping up to fulfil his position.

Chief Charland is the first female to hold the position of Fire Chief in Henry County (Confirmed with the Henry County Fire Chiefs Association) and will be hailed as the Hometown Hero for 2024.

In addition to the change of Chiefs, the entire Board of Directors’ service expired and an entire new board will now guide the business and financial direction of the department.
