Madison Co. sees record early voting turnout
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Election Commission saw a record turnout Friday for a regular seven-hour voting day.
On Friday, 2,186 people voted at the early voting site at 311 North Parkway, according to a release from Administrator of Elections Kim Buckley.
That brings the total turnout to 6,320, which also is a record total after the first three days of early voting.
This represents a 10 percent turnout of the county’s 62,991 registered voters after only three days, according to the release.
Early voting continues through Nov. 3. Hours are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. weekdays and on Saturdays. On Nov. 2 and 3, early voting closes at 6 p.m.
You must present a photo ID issued by the state of Tennessee such as a driver’s license or a handgun permit, the release state. Voters may also use a Federal ID such as a passport or military ID. The photo ID does not have to be current in order to be accepted. The Tennessee driver’s license does not have to have the voter’s current address in order to be accepted.
Photo ID from other states will not be accepted. A college ID will not be accepted even if it a state college, according to the release.
