It’s March Madness and more people than ever can legally bet on basketball games
(AP)—As March Madness gets underway, more people than ever now can legally bet on sports.
North Carolina became the latest state to allow online sports betting last week.

A total of 38 states and the District of Columbia now allow some form of sports betting.
That’s up from just one state, Nevada, where people could legally wager on games before a 2018 U.S. Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for expansion.
The American Gaming Association estimates $2.7 billion will be bet on the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments through legal sports betting operators.
