Judge resets court date for Jackson man charged in business break-ins

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local man charged with breaking into multiple Jackson businesses returned to court Monday. His attorney said a plea deal is possible.

ANDYKIMAndrew Kim appeared Monday before a judge in Madison County Circuit Court. He faces 14 counts including burglary, theft and vandalism.

Judge Don Allen pushed back his court date one week. “The District Attorney’s Office and I asked the judge for a little additional time,” Mark Donahoe, Kim’s attorney, said.

Kim is accused of breaking into and stealing from Outdoors Inc., Coffman’s Home Furnishings and Dick’s Sporting Goods. He was indicted for similar alleged crimes at Office Max and Best Buy.

Donahoe said a plea deal is possible. “We’re talking about the case, negotiating back and forth,” he said. “There’s a possibility it might resolve, so we wanted to take every opportunity to do that.”

Kim is still in custody at the Madison County Jail. “We’ve had some discussions and hopefully we get to an agreement,” Donahoe said. “If we do, fine. If we don’t, we’re prepared to try the case.”

Kim is scheduled to return to court at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 31.

Kim also faces charges in Shelby County for similar crimes.
