Jackson police host annual golf tourney to honor late officer

JACKSON, Tenn. — Several West Tennesseans hit the green Monday to take advantage of sunshine and a chance to help the community.

Brockmeyer ScramblePlayers at the second annual Brockmeyer Scramble Golf Tournament in north Jackson told us they were out for more important reasons — to commemorate Jackson patrol officer Michael Brockmeyer, who died in October 2011 of a rare form of leukemia and to raise money for the Jackson Police Department community fund.

“We’ve bought backpacks, we’ve made donations to the Boys & Girls Club, we’ve bought footballs and what have you for different members of the community,” said Lt. Derick Tisdale, PIO for the Jackson Police Department.

Jackson police say they are always holding events like this and encourage members of the community to check their website to find out how they can get involved.
