Jackson police host annual golf tourney to honor late officer

JACKSON, Tenn. — Several West Tennesseans hit the green Monday to take advantage of sunshine and a chance to help the community.

Players at the second annual Brockmeyer Scramble Golf Tournament in north Jackson told us they were out for more important reasons — to commemorate Jackson patrol officer Michael Brockmeyer, who died in October 2011 of a rare form of leukemia and to raise money for the Jackson Police Department community fund.

“We’ve bought backpacks, we’ve made donations to the Boys & Girls Club, we’ve bought footballs and what have you for different members of the community,” said Lt. Derick Tisdale, PIO for the Jackson Police Department.
