JPD seeks information on East Jackson shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police are investigating a shooting that took place earlier today in East Jackson.

We were first notified by a WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipster of a shooting at the corner of Hays Street and Lexington Avenue.

Upon arrival, we spoke to witnesses who told us the shooting allegedly happened because of a dispute at the TR White Sportsplex, which led to the shooting down the street in front of the Hungry Shack.

According to the Jackson Police Department, they were notified via a shots fired call.

At the scene, they found a 21-year-old victim with apparent gunshot wounds to the leg.

The victim was transported via helicopter to a hospital in Memphis for treatment.
