More than half a ton of marijuana seized in I-40 traffic stop

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A suspect is arrested after more than a 1/2 ton of marijuana was found during a traffic stop.

According to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force – 28th, 29th, 30th Districts, agents conducted a traffic stop on a sprinter van Monday night on Interstate 40 in Haywood County.
The task force says after reasonable suspicion was developed, a narcotics canine was deployed, and agents recovered more than half a ton (1,010 lbs) of marijuana, 46 pounds of psilocybin, and more than $45,500 in suspected drug proceeds.
According to the task force, one male was arrested and is facing charges of delivery of schedule I and schedule VI narcotics.
The task force shared that evidence recovered from the vehicle indicates the suspect had left California with the drugs and had been making deliveries and collecting cash during the trip.
This case is being prosecuted by The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District, Frederick Agee.
