University School of Jackson Seniors Honored as Distinguished Tennesseans by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville

Jackson, TN (March 19, 2024) – The University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK) is proud to announce Amelia Freeman and Anderson Fortune, two graduating seniors from the University School of Jackson (USJ), as recipients of the prestigious Distinguished Tennessean Scholarship Award. This recognition celebrates students who excel in academics and demonstrate a strong commitment to their communities. 

Freeman and Fortune are exemplary recipients, showcasing not only exceptional academic achievement but also a deep dedication to making a positive impact. The Distinguished Tennessean Scholarship provides full tuition and mandatory fees for four years, and is awarded to one student from each of Tennessee’s 95 counties. To be eligible, students must maintain a minimum 3.2 UT core weighted GPA and demonstrate well-roundedness through their application and supplemental materials. 

“Amelia Freeman and Anderson Fortune are truly deserving of this distinguished honor,” said Carol Ryan, USJ College Advisor. “Their academic prowess, coupled with their active community involvement, perfectly embodies the spirit of the Distinguished Tennessean Scholarship. We are incredibly proud of their achievements.”
