Land certified for manufacturing in Adamsville

ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. — A site off of Highway 22 in Adamsville could soon be home to a major industry. Forty-two acres of the property have been certified through the state of Tennessee.

CERTIFIED INDUSTRIAL SITE“It really positions us for the future, being able to market that 42-acre site as a certified site, meaning when a company is looking on a fast track to get into a site, all the things they need are there,” said Eddie Crittendon with McNairy County Economic Development.

Crittendon said being a certified site means geological, phase-one environmental work, a utility plan and transportation routes are immediately available.

“It cuts down on that time, where sometimes it could be six to eight months,” Crittendon said. “They have all the facts and things they need to speed that process up to a month if need be.”

County leaders said being a certified site makes it much easier for manufacturers to decide whether they want to be a part of a local community because it’s easier to check things off the list and to know what’s there and what’s available for them to use.

“A company has a list of what they need when they’re looking for a site and what it does. It matches up our site with their needs,” Crittendon said.

There’s no timeline of when a company will move in.

The certification was an effort between the city of Adamsville, Adamsville’s Industrial Development Board and McNairy County Economic Development.

Other sites certified this year include areas in Shelbyville, Lewisburg, Pulaski and Pellissippi.

State certification through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development began in 2012. Since then, 44 properties have been certified.
