‘Barney’ bust: Drug Task Force makes arrests, seizes drug new to the area
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A local drug task force seizes a drug new to the West Tennessee area during a recent investigation.
According to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force – 28th, 29th, 30th Districts, agents from the 28th Judicial District out of Brownsville conducted an investigation Tuesday on Hawkins Lane in Haywood County.
The task force says two males and one female were arrested on various drug charges.
During the investigation, the task force says agents seized six ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, approximately half an ounce of methamphetamine, and a small amount of a drug known as “Barney.”
The task force says “Barney” is a new drug that has recently began to show up in West Tennessee. According to the task force, the drug is a mixture of fentanyl, xylazine and methamphetamine, and is named “Barney” due to its purple color.
The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District Frederick Agee, is prosecuting this case.
