K-9 teams shine at Henry County Fairgrounds training event
PARIS, Tenn. — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office hosted it’s annual k-9 training event this week.

The training occurred at the Henry County Fairgrounds.
Today, March 22nd, starting at 9 a.m., the public was welcomed to watch the dogs perform in a competition.
The showcase involved dogs displaying skills like finding hides and apprehension.
The event involved single-purpose narcotics dogs, patrol dogs and search and rescue dogs.
Lieutenant Robbie Macdonald shared that the length of training time depends on the dog and on the type of training.
“If it’s single purpose narcotics dog, usually four to six weeks, the dual purpose depends on how much time you put into them. It could take six, ten, twelve weeks or more,” said Macdonald.
This year’s k-9 training had 50 dog teams from all across the country training in tracking, patrol and narcotics detection.
