All-terrain wheelchairs offered at Tennessee State Parks
JACKSON, Tenn. — Exploring the great outdoors at Tennessee’s State Parks has become easier for those with accessibility needs.
Several of our state parks — including some here in West Tennessee — now offer all-terrain wheelchairs.
According to the Tennessee State Parks website, all-terrain wheelchairs are “specialized wheelchairs designed to navigate a wide range of terrains that may be encountered in outdoor environments.”
These specialized wheelchairs offer visitors with mobility impairments the opportunity to enjoy outdoor recreational areas that may be otherwise inaccessible.
The Tennessee State Parks website lists Chickasaw State Park, Natchez Trace State Park, and Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park as participating locations in West Tennessee.
The chairs are free to the public and available for both children and adults, however advance notice is requested to ensure availability.
