Rescue team secures 40 thousand dollar grant for new equipment

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — The Chester County Rescue Squad is a volunteer based first responder team that has received over 40,000 dollars in a grant for new tools and helmets.

“That grant is to replace tools, on one of our primary rescue trucks we recently signed a lease with the city of Enville to move a truck from our city limits to the city limits of Enville,” said Dillon Faulkner, Captain of Chester County Rescue Squad.

Tennessee Marshal’s Office has offered a grant opportunity to the rescue team throughout the state for the past two years.

This grant will benefit Enville residents.

“With having these tools it provides us with more flexibility to work a scene. We can do the same extraction in the fraction of the time. It’s quieter and safer, but also we’re moving that truck to Enville, and by moving that truck to the city of Enville it gives us two locations,” said Faulkner.

The older model tools dated back to the 1970s and weren’t water proof.

“They were not adequate to perform the rescues of today’s vehicles, the new tools that we have are a lot safer for first responders and for the rescue technicians,” said Faulkner.

This grant will be split into these new tools and helmets for each volunteer.

“So the cutters and the spreaders are the two primary tools that we use and then we also receive the ram. So around 38,000 dollars in tools with the remaining 7000 being towards helmets,” said Faulkner.

The Chester County Rescue Squad will help with training the Enville squad.
