The STAR Center’s Music Therapy Hospice Care Fundraiser
For the past year, STAR Center Inc. and our Music Therapy team have been honored to serve clients in Hospice Care thanks to our No-Show Social fundraiser that occurred in 2020. We are currently serving six hospice clients in the Jackson area; we are now, however, at the end of our funding for this program. We are committed to assisting these clients and their families during this time with dignity, grace, and hopefully, a degree of joy, and we need your help.
Music Therapy in the hospice setting can look different from client to client, however, some of the primary goals that our music therapists are working towards include the following:
- Assisting in decreasing pain and discomfort through individualized interventions. • Facilitating family communication, relationship completion, and social interaction through creative means.
- Providing alternative opportunities for processing emotions related to death and dying or bereavement.
- Facilitating avenues for spiritual expression and support.
In order to be able to continue serving our six current hospice clients, the cost is approximately $500 per week. Will you help STAR Center in this endeavor? If we are able to raise $10,000, we will be able to commit to our services for a minimum of 5 more months. If we can raise more, we will be able to take on new clients. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, every donation made up to $5,000 over the next three weeks will be matched.
