Senator Hagerty sounds alarm on drug-related deaths in Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty visited four different locations near the Hub City today.

At his meeting with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, he shared information on what he’s seen at the southern border.

He says he saw an increase of people and an increase in drugs.

Because of the increase of drugs, Hagerty says that has led to an increase of drug-related deaths.

“The TBI has told me that we now have roughly a hundred people a day overdosing right here in Tennessee. Our calculations are roughly 15 kids every day are dying from overdose. This is an epidemic in our state, and when you translate that across the United States of America it’s about 300 kids a day,” said Hagerty.

He also made a visit at the Millington City Hall sharing this same information and discussing solutions.
