George Tillman Owens

George Tillman Owens, 78, of Troy passed away 1:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. His wife, Jean (Fussell) Owens, 75, of Troy passed away 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Quinn, Christopher Quinn, T.J. Brown, Jamie Beasley, Eugene Baker and Levi Stover.

He was born October 28, 1945, in Union City, son of the late David Tillman and Imogene (Pursell) Owens. George and Jean were married on January 11, 1964. George was a retired hairdresser and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Troy Methodist Church.

He survived by two daughters, Barbie Burpo and husband David of Hornbeak and Bridget Owens of Troy; five grandchildren, Jeremy Quinn and Christopher Quinn and wife Claire all of the Shawtown community, Kadie Baker and husband Eugene of Dukedom, Brooke Burpo of Hornbeak and Kodie Robbins of Troy; seven grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Ledbetter and husband Billy of Rives; and his brother, Johnny Owens and wife Mona of Clarksville.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Little Wayne Quinn.
