A local school’s innovative approach to a popular play

JACKSON, Tenn. — A group of middle and elementary school students are polishing their act as they prepare to raise the curtain on the theatrical performance of a beloved story.

Students at Northeast Middle School have been rehearsing for an upcoming presentation of Annie Jr.

What makes this version unique is that it’s the school’s first ever production featuring students from kindergarten through the 8th grade.

There are 37 cast members in all.

The show’s director, Emily Stutts, promises a version of Annie like you’ve never seen before.

“We have students from 11 schools. There are over a hundred costumes in the show. We also have taken our own little twist on Annie so, if you’ve seen the production, there’s gonna be quite a few surprises in our version of the show.” said Stutts.
