Chain offers free food for National Sandwich Day

JACKSON, Tenn. — Thursday is National Sandwich Day, so of course Subway is celebrating, and you can too with a free sandwich.

When you buy a sandwich and drink, Subway will give you one for free.

But even better, every time someone uses this deal, Subway will send a meal to the Feeding America network of food banks.

The sandwich chain says they’re more than prepared for the influx of customers.

“We’re ready for them this year,” sandwich maker Tonika Melendez said. “Last year, we ran out of bread. We’re ready for them this year, though.”

The company says it plans to give away more than 11 million meals for National Sandwich Day.
