Andrew Jackson Marathon returns to the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn.—Athletes lace up their shoes to support a good cause.

The Andrew Jackson Marathon returned to Jackson today.

The marathon began at 7 this morning and proceeds from the event will benefit the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

The runners started and finished at the West TN Farmers’ Market and had a time limit of 6 and ½ hours for completion. The marathon featured a looped course with both a full and half marathon distances available to travel.

The marathon’s course sees runners through downtown, midtown, up to Interstate 40 and back through local neighborhoods. Awards and medals were given to the top male and female finishers in both full and half course divisions.

“This year we’ve seen an increase in runners and volunteers. Local runners participation is great we have runners coming in from all states, all fifty states across the nation” said Cassandra Fuller, Logistics Coordinator, Andrew Jackson Marathon.

The Andrew Jackson Marathon is a Boston Marathon Qualifier and is Tennessee’s oldest marathon event.
