South Jackson hit hard, severe storms leave trail of destruction
JACKSON, Tenn. — Storms that passed through today, April 8, packed quite a punch as they moved across West Tennessee, leaving damage behind as a result.
Pictured above is the scene after storms with over 50 miles per hour winds and large hail, some up to golf ball size pummeled areas of South Jackson.
South Jackson Walmart employees told us that they were without power and denying customers entry to the store.
They also stated that hail had broken glass skylights in the roof.
The storm also caused power outages as well.
In front of Walmart, power was out at the intersection creating a backup of traffic.
Also, trees were found down near Malesus Park as well.
According to the Jackson Energy Authority’s outage map, hundreds of utility customers lost power.
Crews worked throughout the evening to restore knocked-out power.
