Milan Chamber Gala recognizes impactful community members

MILAN, Tenn. — Residents of Milan gathered to celebrate people who have made an impact where they live.

The Milan Chamber Gala took place at Milan Middle School.

The theme this year was “Sweet Home, Milan.”

We spoke to the Executive Director of Milan Chamber of Commerce, Kayley Coday, who just started this job position in October of last year.

“It just brings industries and businesses together to network and celebrate an accomplished year,” said Coday.

Coday said that their business love to sponsor the awards and honor those who deserve it.

“It gets their name out there and they get to recognize an individual that has been exceptional and that’s a really really big accomplishment for these businesses and individuals that get highlighted,” said Coday.

Last year’s recipients of awards such as Educator of The Year, Business of The Year and Milanite of The Year announced the winners of this year’s awards.

“I wanted to bring in those from last year and let them speak about what it meant for them to receive the award and prepare the one that’s winning to know how important it is to win the award,” said Coday.

Geoffrey Walker was the winner of Educator of The Year, Linda K. Spain was Milanite of The Year and Ceco Door won business of the year.

Each winner took photos with their family and friends.

“We get to come together as a county at events like this and promote not only what’s going on in Milan but what’s going on in Gibson County,” said Coday.

Coday says that she has new ideas for the next gala and she can’t wait to get started.
