Day two of raccoon hunt brings smiles and support for St. Jude
PARSONS, Tenn. — Today was the second day of the world’s largest raccoon hunt benefiting St. Jude.
Hosted at the Decatur County Fairgrounds, the no kill, field trial hunt is an event for the whole family.
The hunters don’t kill raccoons, instead the dogs simply chase the raccoons.
In addition to the hunts, there is live entertainment and food.
The majority of cash prize winners donate their money right back to St. Jude.
“It’s a good tradition and that’s why we’re here is for St. Jude, for the kids. We’re not the biggest sponsor St. Jude has but we are one of the longest sponsors St. Jude has,” said Curtis Burton, Director of the hunt.
In its nearly 50 history, the hunt has raised more than 4.5 million dollars for St. Jude.
The event will continue through the morning of April 14th.
