Saltillo revisits history with TN River Rendezvous: Day 2
SALTILLO, Tenn.—The scene was set and the guns were blazing at one history filled event.
We give you a closer look at the fun!
Not only was this event family-friendly but it was guaranteed to have you looking back at history.
Let’s look closer.
Today, was day two of the Tennessee River Rendezvous in Saltillo, Tennessee.
Michael Fields, the founder and organizer of the event, said that this event was meant to be educational as well as a good time.
“We just finished our World War II reenactment and had multiple plane flyovers and lots of people, so it has been amazing, Fields said.
Many people from all over the state sat on the grass and in lawn chairs to catch a front row seat of the reenacted battle.
The replay of the battle scene even caused a little talk back from the audience along with a round of applause.
But why is this event held, you ask?
“The love of history. I know I sound like a broken record sometimes talking about it, but it rolls back to the educational portion of it. If we don’t educate our public and our children especially, then its bound to repeat itself or its going to get lost forever and that’s one thing we do not want to do,” Fields said.
Michael’s son, Wyatt participated in the event and even said that he himself had gained knowledge from the day.
“It’s really been making me think today, about the people who died and fought for our country, said Wyatt Fields.
This is the fourth year that this event has happened and they do not plan on stopping.
Great job everyone!
Vendors were also available with food and drinks for purchase at the event.
