Dispute involving knife threat leads to suspect arrested

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — A suspect is arrested after allegedly threatening others with a knife in Crockett County.

According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, dispatch received a call around 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday of a verbal dispute with threats to do bodily harm at a residence on Gadsden-Todd Levee Road.

The Sheriff’s Department and Gadsden Police Department immediately responded and determined an individual was armed with a knife and threatening others in the home.

The Sheriff’s Office says when officers arrived, a leashed pit bull was “utilized as a barrier between the aggressor and the officers.”

According to the Sheriff’s Department, a “less than lethal option” was deployed against the pit bull in regards to officers’ safety and the suspect was successfully taken into custody without use of force.

The Sheriff’s Department confirms the dog did not sustain any injuries, and was left at the home in possession of the residents.

The suspect, who was not identified in a social media post by the department, is expected to appear before General Sessions Judge Paul Conley.
