Thelma Barker Elementary holds Veterans Day program

JACKSON, Tenn. — Thelma Barker Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day early with a parade on Thursday to honor those who have served.

Veterans walked through the halls of the school as students looked on and waved flags.

They also sang patriotic songs and gave each veteran a gift to show their gratitude.

School officials say the event is meant to help the children understand the importance of Veterans Day.
