27th Annual Charity Gala raises money for good cause
JACKSON, Tenn — A legacy continuing in the community for 27 years.
The West Tennessee Health Care Foundation’s annual Charity Gala benefits Ayers Children’s Medical Center and the Kirkland Cancer Center.
“Tonight is special because we’re raising money for cancer patients, very sick children and special needs children that are in our community.” President of West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation Frank McMeen said.
“We have a silent auction, entertainment, we are going to recognize some wonderful community leaders and have a fabulous meal.” Vice President of West Tennessee Healthcare foundation Beth Koffman said.
Chefs were flown in to cater the five-course meal.
“The 19 chefs that come from all over the country, fly in to donate their time to help us raise this money.” McMeen said.
The event also recognizes special people in Jackson.
“Each year we give out the Jackson Awards and we look at people the community has nominated and we recognized those who serve in our community.” McMeen said.
For three years one California designer has flown in to give back.
“I was actually honored with a key of the city three years ago and I brought my wears from my famous store in Los Angeles to help raise some money for the foundation.” owner of Decades Christos Garkinos said.
This year organizers hope to raise more than $200,000.
“I hope people take away we can have a fabulous event in Jackson, Tennessee and raise lots of money for worthy causes.” Koffman said.
