World’s Biggest Fish Fry returns, feeds thousands of people
HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — The 71st annual World’s Biggest Fish Fry returned to Paris on April 20 with April 24 marking the opening of its premier attraction, the Fish Tent.
Entry to the Fish Tent is 20 dollars which will allow you to enjoy a plate of catfish, fries, coleslaw, beans, hush puppies, and more.
“It’s a community-wide event. This is the kickoff festival for West Tennessee and it brings people out from everywhere,” said Event Organizer, Josh ‘Smokey’ Taylor.
To feed the thousands of people that visit the fish tent every year, it requires a lot of food.
“We’ve got 12 thousand pounds of fish, something like 3 or 4 thousand pounds of fries. So, yeah, hush puppies are all handmade, so really I don’t know how many bags of flour, I just know it’s a lot,” said Taylor.
If you do the math, that comes out to enough food to feed 320 people an hour.
For those interested in visiting the World’s Biggest Fish Fry, you still have until Saturday, April 27.
“Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. or last person served. If we’ve got fish and you’re in line, we’re not going to close the door on you, so come on out,” said Taylor.
Friday morning, April 26, the large ‘Fish Fry Parade’ starts on East Wood Street at 10 a.m.
