Thousands gather for the World’s Biggest Fish Fry Parade
PARIS, Tenn. — The 71st annual World’s Biggest Fish Fry Grand Parade took place today in Paris.
Members of the community say it’s more than a procession, it’s a celebration of the community and an event with extensive history.
“If you go up through coming from Murray or Kentucky you’ll see that the big catfish says home of the World’s Biggest Fish Fry. The reason there’s so many people here is because we’re home of the World’s Biggest Fish Fry so we have the biggest fish fry,” said Brooklyn Mullins, an Inman Middle School Band Member.
“It’s kind of like famous,” said Callie Halstead, an Inman Middle School Band Member.
Thousands lined the streets to watch the two hour parade that included hundreds of floats.
Attendees talked about what they love most about the parade.
“Going to the Fish Tent and eating fish and getting to march in the parade and show off our organization,” said Civil Air Patrol Marchers.
Bands, civic groups, churches, local businesses and more came out to celebrate with the community.
“We enjoy it every time we come,” said Yanna Taylor, Parade Attendee.
And if you’re thinking about going, they say make sure you don’t leave without stopping for one thing.
“The fish, the fried fish, and usually they have the Clydesdale horses in the parade,” said Michael Taylor, Parade Attendee.
That they did, the parade wrapped up with dozens of horses and their riders.
This festival is a week long celebration.
It revolves around more than 12-thousand pounds of fried catfish, the grand parade, rodeos, a carnival and more.
The World’s Biggest Fish Fry continues until Saturday, April 27, with fish being served from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
