MILAN, Tenn. — Stephen Plyler was arrested on Monday, April 15.
He was first arrested in West Virginia but then extradited to the Milan Police Department.
Stephen Plyler was an educator with Humboldt, Gibson, Milan, and Madison County School Districts.
He also was a youth minister with the Church of Christ.
Investigators say this active case has been ongoing for months now.
“I was contacted several months ago by one of the victim’s fathers. I referred that information that I received from him to a sex crime investigator with Milan Police Department,” said District Attorney General with the 28th Judicial District, Frederick Agee.
Agee reached out to Lieutenant Dennis Mitchell, with the Milan Police Department to investigate further.
“So right now I can’t say how many victims there are but it’s an ongoing investigation and we’re still talking to alleged victims,” said Agee.
According to Gibson County’s Sheriff’s Office, Plyler is facing numerous charges.
“For one victim, he is charged with sexually battery by an authority figure. And on his second victim his charged with sexual battery by an authority figure and also statutory rape by an authority figure,” said Agee.
Agee is asking that if there are any other victims, to come forward and share their information.
“Reach out the Milan Police Department, specifically, Dennis Mitchell. If you are a victim come forward let us know what happened, but it’s an active ongoing investigation,” said Agee.
