Models showcase local fashion in McNairy County

McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — The catwalk is ready for dozens of models in McNairy County to show off local fashion.

shop-small“We have 16 boutiques throughout the county participating, which is great,” McNairy County Chamber and Economic Development Director Eddie Crittendon said. “All the ones that we could find in our county, we reached out to them and they’ve all been overwhelmed to us to be involved in it and wanting to partner with us in this.”

Monday night is a sold-out show as entrepreneurs are taking this opportunity to jump-start holiday shopping.

“They’re all entrepreneurs,” Crittendon said. “They’ve all started these businesses and had to have grown them by themselves, so we’re doing our little part to help them get people into their stores and make a sale and hopefully keep them viable going into the future.”

County leaders hope the fashion show will allow consumers to see what’s out there this holiday season and will encourage them to shop local.

“Our retail businesses, our restaurants, whether you’re big or small, we ask that you try to spend that money in your hometown,” Selmer Mayor John Smith said.

Many other events are planned for the holiday season, but the fashion show comes ahead of Small Business Saturday, which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The chamber is also nearing the end of their #ShopMcNairy Campaign, encouraging local consumers to keep track of their receipts and see how much money is spent at local stores. Whoever tallies up the most money spent will win $1,000 to spend at McNairy County businesses.
