Library celebrates grant funded renovations with ceremony

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — A local library holds a grand reopening after some major renovations to its facility.

The event was held at the Chester County Library this afternoon, April 30.

It included tours of the updated facilities, sign up information for upcoming events and technology training.

The renovations were made possible thanks to a more than 166-thousand dollar grant through the Tennessee State Library & Archives.

Wold Architects and Engineers, the firm leading the renovation, also joined the grand opening celebration.

“We were getting to that point where story times for our children’s section, there’s nowhere to sit, nowhere to stand, so what do you do? And then we’re turning away kids for book clubs and you don’t want to do that, so we really wanted to get this project going so we have plenty of space for all the kids that wanna come over here,” said Savannah Gilbert, Library Director for Chester County Library.

Also at the event was the unveiling of new donor plaques, volunteer recognition plaque for the Freed-Hardeman University Baseball Team, and dedication plaque for the expansion and renovation.
