Henderson County Schools host career fair for students

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Henderson County Schools hosted a county-wide middle school career fair today, May 2.

The event was held at First United Pentecostal Church in Lexington.

There were more than 50 vendors from all 16 career clusters in Tennessee.

The event was coordinated by the Henderson County Schools career coaches through the innovative schools Model Grant awarded to the district last year.

“We received almost a five million dollar grant spread out over multiple years to put career counsellors in each high school and to share some of them in our elementary schools as well,” said Danny Beecham, Director of Schools for Henderson County.

The grant money has also been used to buy items for hands on experience in nursing and welding.

There are 2 years of the grant remaining.
