Lights Up Theatre hosts auditions for ‘The Wizard of Oz’ production
JACKSON, Tenn. — Auditions are underway for an upcoming summer performance.
Lights up Theatre Company is hosting auditions for their production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
Auditions start today, May 3, and will continue until May 5.
Auditions are open for those ages 5 and up, and will take place at First United Methodist Church in Jackson.
This performance will finish the theatre’s third season and will be the first time they presented The Wizard of Oz.
Director of Lights Up Theatre, Grayson Hart explains what they look for when casting roles.
“So you have kids who come in who have never done anything before and they come in and shout that they have comedic skills and so boom we know right then that they need to be a part like the cowardly lion or maybe some of them have these really loud voices and over the top personalities, and we know ok this would be a great wicked witch,” said Hart.
Following auditions, they will hold rehearsals for the next eight weeks.
Their performance of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ will be held from July 25 through July 27.
