Expo aims to enrich the lives of local community members

JACKSON, Tenn.—One expo aims to get community members healthy and ready for the workforce.

This morning the Persevere Community Wellness & Workplace Expo was held at East Jackson Church of Christ. The event began at 10 this morning and ended at noon.

Those who attended the event could learn tips to living healthier lives including managing their diets and mental health issues.

At the expo, Madison County UT Extension provided guests with an interactive healthy cooking demo.

Also there, speakers were on hand giving testimonials and inspiring others to address important health issues like depression, anxiety, and anger.

Several vendors provided guests with information and various resources related to health and wellness.

“I would say the resources would be one of the most important things just so people are aware of what we have in the community to access. Second, would be our wonderful speaker. She really touched on some important topics like mental health. She not only gave us some knowledge but some great tools to take home with us as well,” said Emma Graham, Community outreach coordinator.

The event was presented by Persevere, a non-profit that focuses on providing educational and workforce opportunities to ex-offenders and low income families throughout the state.
