Police say presence in north Jackson was for welfare check
JACKSON, Tenn.– Several north Jackson residents reached out to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness news Sunday night about what they described as a heavy police presence in their neighborhood.
While our news crews were in the area of Rolling Acres Drive, a few Jackson police cars could be seen.
What appeared to be a police helicopter could also be observed circling the area for more than an hour.
According to Jackson Police Department’s public information officer Derick Tisdale, officers had been called to the neighborhood for a welfare check.
He said police do not believe this is a criminal incident, as of right now.
