How you can help Jackson Police solve crime in the city

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department reminds citizens of a way they could help fight crime in the city.

Jackson residents with security cameras are asked to register their camera system with Safe Jackson, TN, JPD’s camera registry program.

Registering your cameras does not allow police access to your live video stream. The department says it only enables investigators to know a camera is present at your location and easily request video evidence should an incident occur.

“It’s not for us to be viewing,” Chief Thom Corley told us in 2023. “We don’t have access to view your cameras once you register. All it is is giving us information that you are letting us know that you have one. So if a crime occurs or an incident occurs in an area where there’s one registered, we’ll send you a link by email for you to upload video if you wish.”

The department shares that camera registration takes less than one minute via their secure online portal.

There is no cost to register for the program and it is completely voluntary.
