Family honors late teen through music
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — The Young family’s goal was to celebrate their forever 14-year-old, Camya Young, who passed away earlier this year.
The result was a music video.
“Putting the tragedy behind us and ending it with something positive with a song and having memories for everybody with the song so it’s great,” said Jefferey Young, family member of Camya.
With this weekend being the Strawberry Festival they saw this as an important opportunity to shoot the music video.
“Coming off after the festival you know we came out here we had the cheerleaders out here doing a special dance that they prepared for her and you know just capturing the good vibes we had out here,” said Fabio Castillo, Director of the ‘Forever 14’ music video.
Abreunna McKinley, Camya’s best friend shared that she enjoyed cheering right beside her and that this moment is special for her.
“I feel famous that we get to hear our voices like in the song and stuff that’s pretty cool,” said McKinley.
Camya’s sister, Carlsia Porter, shares that this song can be her family’s new memories of her late sister.
“It feels real good to have the community come support my sister. My sister was a student at Humboldt High School so it feels good to see everybody come out and support her and show her some love because all we have now is memories and we can make memories of my sister,” said Porter.
Her family can be seen in the music video dancing and have a great time.
“The kids, most of all, were the highlight of it all. Just to see them participate in the dance. And their dance moves that they do compared to the elderly dance, so it was great,” said Suzanne Young, family member of Camya.
The “Forever 14” music video will be released June 14 for everyone who knew and loved Camya to enjoy.
