Family holds candle light vigil for Milan homicide victim
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Nearly 50 family members and friends of the 22 year old man who was killed in his Milan home in October, gathered for a candlelight vigil Saturday evening. A picture display was set up to remember Rontavious McKinley, who family called Maurice. His mother says she wanted to have the vigil at the Maurice’s grave sight because that’s where she was the day before Milan Police arrested her sons accused killers.
“Maurice reaches deep into our hearts today and I know that he’s smiling down on us knowing that we are here just to show him that we love him and we miss him,” Rontavious’ aunt Tracy Glenn said.
“I would be lying if I told you it didn’t hurt. No mother wants to loose a child,” Rontavious’ mother Danderia Smith said.
After family members spoke, they released balloons to honor Maurice.
