Mother’s Day Gala brings cheer, love to local community center
JACKSON, Tenn. — The East Madison County Community Association invited residents of the community to their center to spend time with their loved ones.
We spoke with the president of the association, Johnny Miller, who said that it made him glad to see people enjoying themselves.
“EMCCA did funding and donations for the food, and we also had solicitations for donations,” Miller said.
A donation of $20 was asked of every participant.
These donations will help EMCAA get started on rebuilding the old Tri-Community school building connected to them.
The plan is to create an activity center and a theater for residents to enjoy.
“We have activities that we have here too. We even teach dancing and quilt making. We have computer science being taught. We do a lot of things,” said Miller.
Being that this is EMCCA’s first Mother’s Day Gala, Miller said that they still wanted it to be a special one for moms.
“People are cheerful and happy out there,” Miller said. “Enjoying good food, good company, good family, good comradery. So my part is to say ‘hey, let’s do it. Have fun.'”
He also stated this this is a space that’s open to host your own events.
“The venue is available for the community,” he said. “Family reunions, wedding receptions. All sorts of joyful things happen here.”
The location of the East Madison County Community Center is 682 Tri-Community Road.
