JMC Library announces exciting summer activities for children
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County Library has announced their plans to give kids a summer of adventure.
Beginning on June 1, Jennifer Kilbure, Children’s Librarian, shares her plans to make learning fun and interactive.
“Extra fun. I’m very excited about this year. The theme is adventure. Adventure begins at your library. So, we have a lot of adventures planned for the kids just to bring them into the library to give them something to do. Keep their brains busy over the summer and keep them learning,” said Kilbure.
In the past, some of the events would be during times that would cause a schedule conflict for parents.
However, this year’s programs have a few unexpected days.
“Regardless of their parents work schedule or if they’re in summer camp program, some of the programs are at night, several are on Saturdays. We do have a lot on Thursdays during the day,” said Kilbure.
From the science guy and dinosaurs taking over the library, Kilbure shares a unique way for children to enjoy movies.
“When you come in to watch the movie you’ll sit down at a table and you’ll have props. From snacks and different fun little things and there will be a script to go along with the movie,” said Kilbure.
These events are open to the public and do not require parents to sign their children up in advance.
“This is free, the library is free. It belongs to all of us, and we all share it, so everybody should be taking advantage of that and coming and enjoying what we have to offer you,” said Kilbure.
Children from all different ages will receive an interactive reading log they can use to keep up with that they have read this summer.
