County leaders discuss future of Madison Co. jail

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — County leaders gather to discuss more plans for the future of the jail.

Last time committee members met, architects brought in their ideas for expansion of the jail as well as discussed major problems with the current facility.

Now that the committee has had time over the last couple of weeks to review the presentation, their goal is to come closer to a decision on final plans.

County Mayor Jimmy Harris says they hope to get specific details finalized at today’s meeting.

“As much of anything today we potentially will come out with at least suggested number of beds that we’re going to proceed on,” Harris said.

Mayor Harris says the committee will have another meeting with architects sometime after the first of the year.
