Local church donates bikes to elementary students for Christmas

JACKSON, Tenn. — Christmas came early Friday for some local elementary students.

The congregation of St. James Baptist Church donated 45 bicycles to Lincoln Elementary School to give to students.

The church adopted this school because they were in the same community. Twenty-five students were selected to receive bikes Friday in a special presentation.

“It was like a shocking surprise to me,” said Lataious Jones, a student who received a bike. “When I saw all the bikes, I was like are we really getting a bike? So it was just a real blessing for me.”

The rest of the bikes will be distributed to kids at the school throughout the year in different contests, such as highest math or science scores.
