Couple charged in death of infant that had oxygen turned off
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Nashville couple has been indicted on murder charges in the death of their four-month-old daughter, who was on oxygen equipment before her death in 2015.
A release from Nashville Police says 35-year-old Rachel D. Jarrett and 42-year-old Dale R. Bible were taken into custody Thursday night at a motel in the Hermitage area of Nashville.
The child, Adeline Bible, was sent home from the hospital with oxygen equipment and a heart monitor a few days before her Sept. 20, 2015 death. Police determined the oxygen was turned off the evening before she died. According to the release, the parents acknowledged that the baby’s oxygen level had fallen to a dangerously low level before the equipment was shut off.
Jarrett and Bible are being held in jail on $200,000 bonds.
