JPD receives outpouring of support for National Police Week

JACKSON, Tenn. — Community members are “backing the blue” as they show support for local law enforcement this week.

May 12 through the 18 is National Police Week.

Jackson Police Department has received an outpouring of support in a variety of ways.

Community members are thanking local law-enforcement for their efforts to keep the community safe.

From anonymous gifts and donations, to artwork, snacks and even gift cards, law enforcement says they are grateful to have a community that supports police officers and their agency.

“For the community to come out and show that support, it’s overwhelming, but it’s just a very nice thing. It’s very supportive and appreciated. I know the officers really appreciate the community standing up for them and supporting them,” said Thom Corley, Chief of Police for JPD.

As part of National Police Week, a ceremony to honor fallen officers and their families will be held Friday, May 17 at 11 am, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

The community is welcome to attend.
